Why choose aluminium over steel?
Add yourBesides the fact that you will never have to worry about rust ever again aluminium is much lighter than steel which is becoming more of a focal point when considering build set ups due to the increased focus on combined weights of tow vehicles and caravans.
Aluminium can be just as strong steel when put together in the right way. Unlike steel aluminium needs to be able to move and flex with the undulations you would typically find when working remotely, on site or exploring up a beach track. So, when we designed our range of trays on canopies we made sure to take this into account. answer here.
Is aluminium as durable as steel?
Alloy trays are less than half the weight of steel trays.
This means that by choosing aluminium, you can save over 100kgs of extra weight, resulting in less fuel consumption, less wear to tyres and mechanics and the ability to carry heavier loads.
Given the average advertised payload of the top 7 dual cab utes sold in Australia is 975kg, having a lighter tray on the back significantly influences how much you can carry - an important consideration for those with large load requirements.
In addition to being light and strong, aluminium is also remarkably resistant to corrosion and rust. This means that high-quality aluminium trays stay looking good for as long as you look after them.

ArcPoint can design, manufacture and install lift-off canopies to other manufacturers' trays - you are not obligated to fit one of our trays just so you can get around in one of our badass canopies.
